Height Gradient

The Ramp. Generates a linear vertical gradient that ranges from 0.0 at the bottom of the map to 1.0 at the top.

Details

This node is a simpler version of Height Band. Instead of a discrete band, it provides a smooth, continuous value across the entire map.

Potential Use Cases

  • Depth-Based Transitions: Multiply this gradient by a noise field to make caves denser at the bottom of the map and sparser at the top.
  • Vertical Biomes: Connect this to the X-Axis of a Biome Selector Matrix to create biomes that change smoothly with altitude.
  • Water Falloff: Use as a mask for water generation where deep water is only allowed at the bottom 0.2 of the gradient.
