Simplex Noise

The Modern Standard. A more computationally efficient and visually balanced alternative to Perlin noise with fewer directional artifacts.

Ports

PortTypeDirectionDescription
Output FloatOutputThe generated noise map.

Details

Simplex noise is generally preferred for large-scale maps as it avoids the "grid-like" artifacts sometimes seen in standard Perlin noise.

Parameters

  • Frequency: Controls the scale of the noise.
  • Amplitude: Scales the output values.
  • Offset: Shifts the noise pattern in 2D space.
